SNG COLLEGE OF ADVANCED STUDIES, CHELANNUR

           Sree Narayana Guru College of Advanced Studies is a self-financing college affiliated to the University of Calicut and managed by the Sree Narayana Trusts, Kollam. The Sree Narayana Trusts has been one of the highly esteemed educational agencies in Kerala having its own vision with great emphasis for achieving social justices. The Trusts was founded in 1952 in the name of the saint and great social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru, who was the embodiment of universal fraternity and love. The institution under the Trusts follow the ideals of the Guru to imbibe strength through organizations and secure liberation through education. The Trusts, founded by the former Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. R. Sankar, aims at realizing the high deals of Guru who professed the welfare of all without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion. One of the objectives of Sree Narayana Trusts is to establish and maintain institutions intended for the educational, cultural, economic, social and religious, welfare and advancement and for the physical well being of the people. At present there are more than fifty educational institutions in Kerala rum by the S.N Trusts for up the liftment of the socially and educationally backward strata of the society. Form 2013 onwards S.N. Trusts have entered the realm of Self Financing Colleges. Sree Narayana Guru College of Advanced Studies, Chelannur is one among such colleges. The aim of our college is to provide quality education to the poor section of the community and in developing responsible citizens. The Trusts is aiming at extending the faculty of higher education to the backward areas and the under privileged section of the society.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE

           It was His Holiness Narayana Guru's call to seek “liberation through education” which inspired the distinguished citizens of the backward area start a new college. The basic objective of the institution is to provide education to the marginalized sections of the society. The college stands for the academic excellence as well as the development of the skill and character of students based on the Holy Guru's perspective on humanism, secularism and universal brotherhood. The motto of the college is Enlightenment through Education” and it endeavors to mold a community of students committed to the pursuit of truth and moral excellence, upholding the high ideals of Sree Narayana Guru, our patron. We aim at building up a human and socially committed fraternity of young men and women by the up-liftment of the downtrodden masses through education. Our institution is a major Centre for higher education offering educational opportunities to the rural community. A sizeable number of our former students have been placed in coveted positions in India and abroad which has contributed to the general development of the area. Majority of the students of our college belong to the backward classes with 70 – 80% comprising girls. The institution is striving to achieve the great of equal access and equal opportunity in the all walks of life.
